I regularly work with young parents at East City and Framlingham Earl Children’s Centre in Norwich.
Several times a year, the centre’s family support workers run ‘A sense of me’ – a self-care programme for new parents. The next session is May 2019.
The parents enjoy some well-deserved time to themselves, learning skills and techniques they can practise at home, while their babies are well cared for next door in the crèche.
We start with some simple yoga stretches to relieve physical tension in shoulders and backs, and focus on the breath to help release mental and emotional stress. We finish with a guided meditation and relaxation.
The mums comment on how their bodies feel looser and their minds clearer afterwards, and they go off to collect their babies from the crèche relaxed and with renewed energy! Thanks to Gemma at the centre for this very rewarding opportunity (and to Helena for these lovely pics of her and baby Alexander from the October 2018 session!).
Thank you! The mums really enjoyed it…
