I highly recommend Bernie to anyone interested in giving yoga a try or looking for a new teacher. She prepares our bodies for the poses with simple breathing and stretching exercises, then she gives very clear guidance on how to get into each pose. She caters for all levels of ability. If your body can’t do something, no problem, Bernie will suggest something more suitable for you. Yoga is not so much about using your body to get into poses but more about using the poses to get in touch with your body. Many of the poses we do are apparently simple but they can really ‘reach the parts’ and lead to some deep releases. I always feel relaxed and refreshed after yoga with Bernie.

I started as a rather stiff and unwilling yoga student, but Bernie’s calm and patient teaching has kept me with her, and now I would never miss a class if I could possibly help it. She demonstrates every pose and adapts it to the group’s overall capability, so that we always feel we can attempt it. I hate to think how poor my posture would now be if I hadn’t joined Bernie’s classes!
I always enjoy Bernie’s class and feel immense benefits both physically for my back ache and with stress relief. Bernie is a very knowledgeable and dedicated teacher who varies the class content to suit all abilities. There is always a nice balanced mix of floor work, standing postures and relaxation at the end. I would highly recommend her.
Bernie is very thoughtful and thorough with her instructions – I never feel self-conscious when asking for extra help with a posture or if she gently suggests an adjustment. The only problem is stirring to get up and go home at the end of the relaxation period!
I had never tried meditation before. Bernie’s clear instructions have helped me to become aware of my breathing and how to take my attention to each part of my body, and the effect it has. I put these techniques into practice when I become stressed in everyday life
As a recently retired registered nurse, I must state how impressed I have been with Bernie’s advice to those students with health problems on how to adapt or modify some of the yoga postures. She stresses the need to relax into postures rather than forcing the body beyond its comfort zone, and I know that my health has significantly improved. The classes are fun, friendly, good-humoured and always pleasurable.
